A former student has alleged she was gang raped by fellow students there in 2024, but the original police investigation was dropped.
Now, following a public outcry, students are demanding accountability.
A new criminal investigation into what happened to the woman – known only as Jane Doe – has been reopened, a new attorney is in charge, and New York’s governor is calling for changes to the state’s consent laws.

I swear by God, I only speak out of hunger, poverty, and dire straits. I swear by God that I only wrote these words and made this plea after every door was closed in my face, and the world, in all its vastness, felt too small for me, and my suffering and hardship reached a level known only to God.
