   I would suggest that when somebody keeps telling you that they want to see you, some time in the future (like the day before Christmas), because they have a present for you. However, American carrier's with wooden flight decks, were sunk or made inoperable when hit by Japaneses Kamikaze planes. British carriers had armoured flight decks which reduced the space and thus reduced the amount of planes they could carry. All were hit by Kamikaze, none were sunk or made useless. Dents in the armour were repaired with fast drying concrete at sea and the British carriers were operational again within 12hours. British carriers built like brick shithouses made US carriers look like a wooden shed. Trump and his military goons have learned nothing from history and are now repeating it.

    The carriers were always basically a job creation project to keep the votes of the people working in the Scottish Ship Yards, (not that I object to that,) and they should have been nuclear not diesel, but we no longer have skill or the industrial and technical resources to have done that.

    Also there a well known problems with American Aircraft that we've had to buy to equip them F-35 Fighter the aircraft needs an upgraded engine and new power and cooling system to fix a long-running problem: the F-35 literally overheats in flight.

    I many respects the old Harriers, although in many respects obsolete might have been better, but we can't make them either.
