‘There is absolutely no excuse,’ insists Shadow Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho MP as she launches a fierce criticism of the Labour government’s refusal to allow further drilling in the North Sea. Arguing that the UK is failing to take advantage of its own natural resources, Coutinho says ‘we should be making the most of our resources!’ as concerns over energy security and rising costs continue to dominate the political agenda.

In a heated interview, Dr Stephen Dixon presses Coutinho on the Conservatives’ record during their 14 years in government, challenging whether they bear responsibility for the current state of the UK’s energy policy. ‘You do hold some responsibility…’ Dixon suggests, prompting a sharp rebuttal from Coutinho: ‘That’s not true!’ The exchange highlights the ongoing political divide over net zero targets and how best to balance sustainability with energy independence.

The conversation then turns to current Energy Secretary Ed Miliband, with Coutinho delivering a blunt assessment of his leadership. ‘I do not think Ed Miliband is fit to be Energy Secretary… he is run by ideology!’ she claims, accusing him of putting political beliefs ahead of practical energy solutions. Coutinho argues that Labour’s stance on net zero and its opposition to North Sea drilling risk undermining the UK’s energy security at a critical time.

  1. Why is no one reported on the child soldiers and anyone who is scared to fight for this fallen regime while the richest animals have fled to western countries and left these people, and you have government supporting terrorists, Hitler had children and old people fighting, they are sitting in the dark and got a few cars trying to scare the citizens from talking over, watch this space, low IQ people with only a few weapons left sitting in the dark and haven't got the IQ how to fight a modern war, and the rest of the world crying because they won't go get their oil from the terrorist they buy from and expect the USA to pay for Ukraine and every other war because you have took your eye of the ball

  2. "Economic crash" is not "overdoing it". Doesn't this silly Tory failure yet realise that "net zero" is a weapon the Tories handed to Labour and one of the most powerful in its armoury for destroying the country before rebuilding it as a communist state?

After 14 years of dishonesty and incompetence in government, how can anyone trust anything the Tories say?

  3. if yhey didnt abolish the right to own gins in u.k public would have revolted along time ago 100%. all this has been planed for the last 50+ years its insane😢

  4. Doesn't it prove these liebour ministers simply don't have a clue about running a country especially the economy and the nock on effect about the disastrous policies they make!

  5. This woman was asked a question about pay rises for MPs and ministers and gave an "answer" regarding people being unfairly taxed to pay for benefits. The Tories are not the answer. They are a major part of the problem and, like all her party colleagues, Ms. Coutinho speaks with forked tongue.

  6. Armchair KGB News views experts know more than the entire independant global scientific consensus about climate change 🤣 oh, and the Earth is flat 🤣🤣🤣

  7. I find it infuriating that those on benefits are getting a larger payrise than pensioners, which is approx 4.5 % which after Tax amounts to a mere 3%, less than the
    Triple Lock should prevent.
Again it's those that relie on fixed incomes, and cannot do anything about it, come off the worst

  8. This is just another way to destroy our country by people who hate us and our country Open up your fire grates and buy coal we dont need a deviant government to think they can run our lives

  9. Net zero is economically impossible. Specially in current climates, since cost of living is just to expensive, rent is harder and harder to keep up with food electrical and gas, top that with high fuel costs people are struggling to even get to work when they do work the money earned doesn't even cover half the things you need to pay for. More and more people becoming homeless cause of the net zero BS

  10. Tories had a solution to stop invaders ( Rwanda policy ) unfortunately for British people OR fortunately for parasites ( sick in the head Farage kept telling us Rwanda was a GIMMICK.

  11. The government is earning a lot of money from taxation as all prices are going up.
The Labour government is effectively profiteering.

  12. Square face parliament must continue to pay at the pumps until further notice for their devilshite Warwickshire police assault

    HRH Buckingham

  13. Hell many more walls, will they run into before, they realise it hurts , or are they just so arrogant, they keep going until death.

  14. They will find any excuse to keep Miliband's mates in the Green energy sector in clover. We pay them when they don't supply any electricity, like today because it's too windy for the turbines to operate, they'd explode.

  15. Miliband is allowing staff at the National Energy System Operator (NESO) to hold shares in National Grid, it has been described as "completely untenable" by experts and critics due to severe conflicts of interest. Critics argue that staff, who are now regulators overseeing the grid, could profit from policies that favour the private company they once worked for and hold shares in.

  16. 500L of heating oil cost me £288 january 20th just put another order in for the same amount. It's now £800. And guess what I don't get any help because I don't claim any benefits and I work for a living 🫣. What doesn't make any sense to me is how you can have an energy cap on electric and gas for everyone including multimillionaires, to benefit from but normal working people on oil, if you work for a living, don't claim any benefits whatsoever you get no help🤬🤬❌️ . The country is a joke🇬🇧☠️

  17. All the MADNESS in the world, N0THING that is happening now is by accident!, all of this was PLANNED well in advance.. To 6'uild 6'ack 6'etter you got to DESTR0Y the old 1st! 👀💡.

  18. £3000 extra a year and they can’t run the country, what a joke working people see £30/£300 a year they get £3000 while acting like children in parliament.

  19. I think the cabinet has a meeting every Friday. The 'Craziest idea of the week' meeting and the winning idea get's implemented..

  20. We want your money money money money money money all this country is about tax and if we don't have petrol and diesel cars they will want to tax something else they will not want to lose the tax revenue. Petrol and diesel the majority of it is tax. Just greed from the treasury

  21. So when they have done away with petrol and diesel cars and they are not getting the revenue from petrol and diesel what are they going to tax instead to get the same revenue back.

  22. Conservative got nothing right. And the Labour party are worse. Why should we trust any politicians you are f the country up between Labour and conservative don't just blame labour

  23. Personally I think all politicians should resign waste of time sorry what are this time you should not be getting any wage rises or anything till you get the economy right

  24. We have to vote tactically guys. Who ever is polling better in your constituency out of Reform UK or Restore Britain. VOTE the party that is polling better to prevent the left from winning. Britain is falling we have to unite the right before it's too late 🇬🇧

  25. What they could do right now is remove the tax in the short term….as for the conservatives they seem to announce Reform policies every week, so obviously their ideas are doable or the torries wouldn’t be copying them !

  26. "Woman from party that signed Net Zero into law when they were in government says there's no excuse for the new government to be following Net Zero."
