Starmer fails to deny cabinet split over handling of Mandelson vetting scandal

Keir Starmer has failed to deny there is a split in the cabinet over his handling of the allegations around Peter Mandelson’s vetting.

The prime minister has come under huge pressure over his judgement, after it was revealed that Mandelson effectively failed security checks before becoming the US ambassador – and that the PM was in the dark about the whole thing until last week.

Asked if there is a split, Starmer avoided directly answering the question.

  1. He and his mate Peter should be in jail for facilitating the leaking of British security information. Simple

  2. This person's immense arrogance and self-delusion are infuriating. He thinks he can BS everyone, when he should just GO. Not a single ounce of decency.

  3. It's not the prime ministers job to decide how to proceed based on the results of vetting, it's his job to decide who he wants to appoint to the role.

It was Ollie Robbin's job to decide whether what was thrown up by UKSV was managble in order to give Mandelson his DV clearnance as he had been asked to by no.10 and the cabinet office.

He made the decision that it was managable, presumably based on there being very little new info that had come to light than was already known to everyone including the PM.

There is only one villain here and it's Kier Starmer who made a catestrohic error of judgement to appoint a man known as The Dark Prince, whom he knows full well that she never have even considered.

What's playing out here is just theatre to absorb the delayed shock of HIS terrible judgement. To question Ollie Robbins' judgement is frankly hypocritical in the extreme.

Why does Ollie need to be fired for his apparent mistake of simply achieving what he was asked to achieve, when it would never have happened if it wasn't for Starmer's much bigger mistake that he does seem to want to be held accountable for?

    I give him 2-3 weeks.

  4. Didn't he know mandleson was on the board of a Russian company close to the Kremlin, BEFORE vetting and still gave him top secret clearance? If so procedure is irrelevant. He has to go.

  5. Always Evasive, never known to answer any question in a straightforward manner. Russia/Ukraine war is none of UK concern. We get nothing of note from either country.

  6. He doesn’t even see that the policies he talks about are unpopular with voters. He’s destroyed the growth that was happening before the election.
