UK signs £662m deal with France to stop Channel crossings with new riot police

The UK has signed a landmark £662m deal with France to prevent Channel crossings, funding 50 more riot police and new surveillance technology.

But charities warn the deterrence policies won’t work, saying migrants face worse risks at home than French police or dangerous crossings.
