‘Trump is in a state of utter confusion’ over the Strait of Hormuz, says former adviser
Former national security adviser to Donald Trump John Bolton has spoken to Sky News about Donald Trump’s chances of making a deal with Iran.
The US president has suggested a deal with Iran is imminent but is threatening retribution if it doesn’t happen.
But Bolton said: “I think we’re in a state of utter confusion now, at least Trump is in a state of utter confusion.”
He went on to say the “operation to open the Strait of Hormuz was an entirely sensible thing for him to do” but Bolton said “to stop now in search of a one page deal is a big mistake”.

With all his experience, Bolton is still a hawk and in a world of asymmetric warfare in which large ponderous military forces can be defeated or neutralized by smaller, nimble forces he is playing with fire against Iran. Their leadership may be unpopular but the regime is still capable and knows how to use proxy forces and their own to inflict great damage to the Great Satan. The field of battle isn't just the Strait of Hormuz when proxies are invested. The world is the battle field. Ask Al-Queda.
