How King Charles backed Canada in his speech to Trump
Britain and Canada have the world’s closest relationship and Donald Trump’s presidency has “in many ways” allowed them to get even closer, Canadian High Commissioner to the UK has said.
Bill Blair, who was appointed High Commissioner in March, told ITV News that despite the “special relationship” label and his country’s geographic proximity to America, it is the UK and Canada who are “joined more than any other two countries in the world”.
He added that our shared head of state, King Charles, is a source of pride for Canadians who has reminded them to love their country.
Blair, whose role is equivalent to that of an ambassador but for countries in the Commonwealth, spoke to ITV News for his first sit-down interview since taking up post.
