Plaid Cymru ‘ready to form next government of Wales’, leader declares | Vote 2026
Plaid Cymru has become the largest party in Wales after the Senedd elections, securing 43 seats – six short of a majority.
Based on that result, leader Rhun ap Iorwerth has declared that his party “stands ready” to form the next government of Wales.
Speaking in Llandudno, he said: “This is a moment 100 years in the making – a moment in which we hold the promise and ambition of a nation in our hands.”
