‘National SHAME’ BBC sparks FURY with ‘OMINOUS’ TV licence scheme as Brits ‘living in fear’

Brits trying to cancel their TV licences are tearing their hair out over the hoops put in place for them to jump through, just to free themselves of the now £180 yearly charge.

Documents obtained by Freedom of Information Request show TV licensing has been deploying a ‘web deflection test’ to reduce the number of cancellations.

Brought in in January 2024, the test was initially shown to 10% of users, but was quickly ramped up to 33% by 1st February and 100% of of users shortly after that. The contractor, in the documents, has found the test very effective at reducing cancellations.

The move comes as the BBC receives criticism for its ‘invasive’ tactics of Licence fee collection, as Brits say they are ‘living in fear’ of a knock on the door after receiving a series of ‘threatening’ letters.

Mark Whitfield from TV Licence Resistance tells Nick Dunning there is a ‘constant flow’ of fearful members of the public contacting his organisation for help.

  6. Proud I cancelled the BBC, in my house, in 2018. No calls, no forms, just letters in the bin…..genuinly dont watch.

  7. I stopped watching TV over 30 years ago because I refused to pay for the utter garbage on the BBC. Looks like a thousand times worse now. All that money I have saved

  19. You DO NOT need to inform the BBC you want to cancel your license. Simply cancel your direct debit or do not pay the next amount. Do not interact with the goons, and file the letters under BIN. The goons have NO powers of entry into your property. They are simply cold caller salesmen. DO NOT SPEAK to them.

  21. Just cancel the direct debit. Do not engage in ANY dialogue with capita. Do not fill out the ‘no licence required’ it puts a marker on you for a visit. Just use the letters to light your fire. Or soak some lasagne sheets, pop in a plastic bag, and use their non- pre paid envelope to send it back to them- they will be charged the postage by weight.
