   This teaching is often cited by Muslims as a rejection of racial superiority.

   At the same time, it’s worth distinguishing between Islamic teachings and the behavior of some Muslims. Like followers of any religion, Muslims have not always lived up to their ideals, and racial prejudice has existed in some Muslim societies. However, mainstream Islamic doctrine teaches equality of people regardless of skin color and rejects the idea that one race is inherently superior to another.
