Burnham opens northern branch of Downing Street

Andy Burnham has hailed the opening of a northern branch of Downing Street as “the best day of my life”.

Speaking as he worked for the first time at the Manchester office, he insisted Number 10 North won’t be “the new levelling up or another sort of short-lived gimmick”.

The prime minister is expected to work in Manchester at least once a week.

  7. Here's hoping it helps distribute funding and focus evenly then. We down here in Cornwall NEED a LOT of financial help, because Farage's Brexit caused us to LOSE £100m a year from the EU!
    I only hope the majority down here do NOT vote for Refrom/Restore at the next GE, because they're just going to help push Cornwall even more to it's knees.
