‘Not credible’: Senior Tory hits out at French explanation after warship ‘fired shots’ near him

Chris Philp has suggested a French warship was trying to “intimidate” him by firing “live rounds” while he was on a boat in the English Channel.

He has also accused the French of firing “live rounds to defend their waters against a visiting British politician”.

In a statement, the Prefecture maritime Manche mer du Nord said French Navy units “conduct regular training exercises” and that “individual combat training is part of the normal activities of a vessel on operations”.

  5. Wild that this is being reported just after the UN vote and the US walking out during the French speech. It's almost like it's an attempt to strain relations with European allies by the media class and isolate us further… Funny coincidence that he chose that exact moment to be behind them as they fired at a target in the opposite direction.
