Burnham promises higher defence spending and more nuclear subs

Defence is in UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s sights, as his relentless policy crusade continues.

Burnham’s used a recommitment of investment in updating the Trident nuclear submarine programme to repeat his promise of reindustrialising Britain.

Questions linger, though, about whether he’ll commit to spending 3 per cent of GDP on defence by 2030.
