Stop and search: is the controversial police tactic working in London?

London’s Metropolitan Police has carried out 20% more stop and searches over the last year and said it has helped them to recover thousands of weapons and illegal drugs.

The force said it was also keen to tackle concerns in the community that Black people are far more likely to be searched than their white counterparts and promised greater scrutiny, transparency and accountability.

We joined the Met on the operations and witnessed an arrest that led to the seizure of an axe.

While the police say stop and search is working, can they reassure Black communities that they’re not being singled out?

    He's also wearing a Rolex – what kind of youth worker has that sort of income available. Rearrest him and start a proper investigation about the source of his undeclared income.

  2. Do the public want to see crime reduced, then let the Police do their job to question and if necessary detain people whatever their colour of behaving suspiciously.
