Prince Harry, Elton John and others to pay initial £9.5m legal costs to the Daily Mail’s publishers

Prince Harry and his celebrity claimants will pay an initial £9.54m to the Daily Mail’s publisher, after he and six other household names lost a privacy court case.

The judge said the outstanding amount should be paid on an “indemnity basis”.

This means that, as the losing party, the prince and the others must ⁠pay towards Associated Newspaper Limited’s costs without ​the publisher needing to show ​these were reasonable and proportionate.

  3. daily mail sold more papers, made more money because they were sued by these particular famous people, they only wish they had more famous people making legal claims against them
