There have been a lot of sanctions programmes against Iran. But this week US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced Operation Economic Outcast, which promises to go further than ever before.
It will punish not just Iran but any country helping Iran – including China. It is the Trump administration’s latest attempt to end the war. Will it work?
We speak to Vali Nasr, professor of international affairs and Middle East studies at Johns Hopkins University, and ask whether in trying to end one war, President Trump risks starting a global trade conflict.

What happened with the Lawsuit?
Trump's only plan is to increase U.S. debt levels higher in order to pretend the stock market is doing well. Only the 1 % matters.
It is very easy to stop the war! USA, go home ! untill you occupy other country there will be no peace! Trump is responsible for all. He is destroying the world.

Iran has been sanctioned by the West for decades. Yet during that time it has vastly increased its armaments, including building underground missile cities. And it is now close to obtaining nuclear weapons. So only a complete fool would expect sanctions to be effective.
