EU wants Meta to extend US teen safety restrictions to Europe • FRANCE 24 English

The EU is pressing Meta to introduce the same protections for under-18s in Europe that it agreed to in a landmark US settlement, including screen-time limits and stronger parental controls on Facebook and Instagram. Brussels is also demanding additional measures.

    One would assume the parents to live in the same house as their child. At least one of them.
    Why is the parental control digitalized?

    I don't disaggree with the measures conceptually. Children should indeed not be on social media. But the only ways to enforce them is trought draconian measures like demanding every user to hand over their ID – And even that would not work, as the child will just use their guardian's.
