WPP has announced a fresh set of innovations with Google, including a new frontier research collaboration with Google DeepMind aimed at developing AI-powered production solutions for brands and marketers.
The partnership made its first public outing at Cannes Lions 2026, where WPP and Google DeepMind worked together on a creative challenge for Duracell’s latest global football campaign featuring the brand’s iconic Duracell Bunny.
The project focused on enabling the Duracell Bunny to convincingly lip-sync across multiple languages while preserving the character’s distinctive expressions and personality. To achieve this, the teams developed new AI model capabilities designed to adapt the Bunny’s mouth movements and facial expressions for different languages and markets.
The technology opens up new possibilities for global campaigns, allowing brands to create locally relevant creative executions at scale while maintaining consistency across regions.
Alongside the Google DeepMind collaboration, WPP also celebrated a strong showing at Cannes Lions 2026, with work from several of its agencies taking home major honours.
VML’s Lucky Fan Index for Wisła Kraków Football Club won the Grand Prix in the Creative Commerce category and also secured Gold in Brand Experience & Activation.
Other Gold-winning campaigns from WPP agencies included Circus Grey’s SOS POS for BCP in Brand Experience & Activation, DAVID, Mindshare and WPP Production’s r/eal reviews for Dove Hair in Creative Strategy, and VML and Burson’s Oreo Cows for Oreo in Brand Experience & Activation.
The latest announcement further strengthens WPP’s long-standing relationship with Google as both companies continue to explore how emerging technologies can support creative production and global storytelling.
