Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle has a score to settle next week, when he finally discovers that Robert Sugden was responsible for Moira being jailed. Instead of resting after his cancer surgery, Cain sees red after the revelation about Robert and holds the frightened farmer hostage. How far will raging Cain go to get revenge?

This was always going to be a dramatic week for Cain, as he’s finally due to have his operation. With the procedure already delayed by his recent road accident, he needs the prostatectomy as soon as possible in case his cancer spreads.

The Dingle family are on tenterhooks as Cain prepares for theatre, especially young Kyle, who is seriously struggling with his dad’s illness. Thankfully, the surgery goes well.

Once Cain is back at home, where he continues his recovery, Aaron and Robert call round to see how he’s doing. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is beyond awkward and only makes Cain feel worse.

“Cain doesn’t want to see anyone,” explains Jeff Hordley, who plays the popular character. “He goes off to change his catheter and when he comes back, he thinks Robert, Aaron and Moira are acting a bit weird around each other.

“They leave and he asks Moira what was going on, because clearly something has happened. She denies it at first, but ends up spilling the beans to Cain…”

Backed into a corner, and still fuming about the situation, Moira admits to Cain that Robert planted the damning identity documents at Butlers that initially got her arrested.

The bombshell triggers an explosive reaction from Cain, and Moira pleads with her husband to stay calm – but what are the chances of that?

Itching to avenge his wife after the ordeal that almost got her banged up for life, Cain broods as Moira insists he drop it so they can move on and concentrate on his recuperation. Appeasing Moira by promising to stay put, incandescent Cain starts plotting a secret revenge plan to teach Robert a lesson.

“Cain is fuming,” says Jeff. “Even though he’s just out of hospital and not feeling one hundred percent, Cain finds the strength to grab a hammer, then takes Sam and sneaks off to see Robert…”

The following day, an oblivious Robert is working on the farm when he hears a noise coming from the barn. He goes to investigate, and is brutally attacked from behind and knocked out cold.

Under Cain’s instructions, Sam has bashed traitor Robert and then the Dingle men have the slippery Sugden exactly where they want him – tied to a chair, utterly helpless.

Wielding a hammer over terrified Robert, Cain insists it’s time he paid for what he did. Is Cain about to commit murder?
