EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (5 May), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.
EastEnders has confirmed a sly twist about Eddie Knight, as the evil villain comes back into his son George’s life. This week, after finally returning home with baby Ivy, Nicola answered the missed calls on her partner’s phone and discovered that Eddie was trying to get in touch with George – from the hospital, not prison.
Nicola secretly visited Eddie, where he explained that he has terminal lung cancer and he wanted to make amends with George before he dies.

In today’s episode, Nicola made up an excuse about where she disappeared to the previous night, as she was determined to keep her visit to Eddie a secret from George.
But she couldn’t hide the truth for long, as George spotted a hospital parking ticket on the car so confronted Nicola. While she attempted to lie again, Nicola was eventually forced to admit to George that she saw his dad, and that he is dying.
George was unhappy that Nicola had tried to keep this from him but later apologised for snapping and explained his anxiety around his dad not being behind bars. Nicola said that Eddie was keen to see him, so George decided to pay his dad a visit himself.

Things were initially tense, but George was blindsided when Eddie made an emotional apology for everything he put him through. While George was sure he had an ulterior motive, Eddie owned up to being a racist and hating him because he was black.
Meanwhile, Nicola told Gina and Kojo about Eddie’s situation and George’s visit, and they weren’t happy about this reunion – given that Eddie killed Kojo’s dad and Gina’s biological grandad.
With Eddie having poured his heart out to him, George returned home, stunned that his dad had held his hands up to his vile actions and admitted to being wrong about everything. He decided to visit Eddie again, although Nicola remained cautious.

Gina was also unwilling to give Eddie another chance, and she explained to Kojo how he treated her during her childhood and how he made her and George feel ashamed of their culture.
She didn’t believe Eddie could change, and it seemed she was right – as it was then revealed that he had only reached out to George as he wanted to stay with him for his final days, or else he will return to prison to die.
George felt that Eddie deserved a second chance, even though this might push Gina away for good – but will he regret trusting his dad again?
EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
