The Gist
Strong quarter, bigger bet. Cloud ARR nears $2.9 billion as Genesys leans harder into agentic orchestration.
Four new orchestration tools. Navigator, Orchestrator, Contextual Intelligence and AI Control Plane form an integrated foundation for managing AI across the customer journey.
Virtual agent gets sharper. A new reasoning model, natural voice tech and faster dev tools target more complex customer requests.
Ecosystem widens. Adobe, AWS, Meta, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Sierra and others join Genesys’ push to keep AI agents connected across enterprise systems.
Genesys kicked off its Xperience 2026 conference in Las Vegas on Sept. 2 with a wave of announcements spanning financial results, new customer experience orchestration capabilities, an expanded Agentic Virtual Agent and a broadened partner ecosystem. The announcements position Genesys Cloud as what the company calls the agentic orchestration platform for CX — a layer meant to coordinate AI agents, human workers and enterprise systems around a single customer journey.
Cloud ARR Nears $2.9B as AI Revenue Outpaces Core Growth
The news comes on the heels of financial growth.
Genesys Cloud annual recurring revenue reached nearly $2.9 billion in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027 (May 1–July 31, 2026), up more than 30% year over year. Cloud AI ARR alone topped $400 million, growing at more than twice the rate of overall Cloud ARR. Net revenue retention stayed above 120% for a 12th consecutive quarter.
Total revenue growth exceeded 20% year over year for the first half of fiscal 2027, with GAAP and non-GAAP operating margins above 30% and more than $500 million in free cash flow generated over the six-month period. More than 7,500 organizations now use Genesys Cloud, including over 600 customers each contributing more than $1 million in ARR — among them AAA Auto Club Enterprises, HSBC, Independence Blue Cross, IDEXX Laboratories, Nestlé, Riachuelo, Roche, Schneider Electric, Vanguard and Vodafone. The platform now handles more than 33 billion voice, digital and AI-driven conversations and over 1 trillion API invocations annually.
“Agentic AI is changing how companies operate around the customer,” said Tony Bates, chairman and CEO at Genesys. “By orchestrating people, AI, systems and workflows around customer intent, enterprises can create stronger experiences that build loyalty and growth. Our momentum reflects a broader shift from AI experimentation to enterprise-scale adoption, and Genesys Cloud is helping organizations make that transition with the context, governance and orchestration they need to move forward with confidence.”
4 New Capabilities Anchor the Orchestration Push
Genesys introduced Genesys Cloud Navigator, Genesys Cloud Orchestrator, Contextual Intelligence and AI Control Plane as what it describes as an integrated foundation for agentic orchestration — designed to help organizations understand customer intent, maintain context across a journey, coordinate action between AI and humans and govern increasingly autonomous experiences. That governance layer matters as AI agents take on more autonomous decisions, shifting chief customer officer accountability from task management toward strategy and human-AI collaboration. Governed orchestration, which constrains AI behavior through business logic and real-time monitoring, is emerging as the design standard for these systems, which increasingly coordinate across sales, service and marketing touchpoints without constant human oversight.
What the 4 New Capabilities Do
The following breaks down each capability Genesys announced at Xperience 2026 and its role in the orchestration stack.
Capability
Description
Cloud Navigator
AI-native front door using conversational understanding to route customers
Cloud Orchestrator
Coordinates AI, humans and systems while maintaining journey state
Contextual Intelligence
Turns interactions into persistent memory linking identity and history
AI Control Plane
Governance layer providing centralized policy and oversight for AI actions
Contextual Intelligence and AI Control Plane are available now. Cloud Navigator is expected to reach general availability in Genesys’ fiscal fourth quarter (Nov. 1, 2026–Jan. 31, 2027), with Cloud Orchestrator targeted for fiscal Q1 2028 (Feb. 1–April 30, 2027).
Agentic Virtual Agent Adds Reasoning Power and Natural Voice
Genesys also expanded its Agentic Virtual Agent, generally available since March, building on a partnership with Scaled Cognition that dates back to last fall. The upgrade centers on Scaled Cognition’s newest APT-2 large action model, following Genesys’ earlier launch of a large action model-powered virtual agent capable of resolving end-to-end customer requests autonomously. APT-2 is built to improve reasoning accuracy, factual grounding and execution reliability across longer, more complex workflows.
New voice capabilities — End-of-Turn Detection and Contextual Tuning — aim to make conversations flow more naturally, while new integrations with ElevenLabs and Deepgram add expressive text-to-speech and real-time speech recognition, respectively. On the development side, Genesys is introducing spec-driven development that lets teams describe desired customer experiences using existing process documentation and interaction transcripts, with AI translating that material into deployable configurations. Development teams can also bring in outside tools — including Anthropic’s Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor and Kiro — to build specifications for testing and governance inside Genesys Cloud.
Genesys pointed to early results from Riachuelo, one of Brazil’s largest fashion retailers, which replaced its traditional chatbot with Agentic Virtual Agent and saw customer retention climb from 30% to 84%, CSAT improve by 60 points in the first year, and productivity rise more than 400% without adding staff. Across its broader customer base, Genesys said some organizations are seeing Net Promoter Score gains of more than 70 points.
“Enterprise AI is entering a new phase defined by what it can accomplish for customers,” said Mike Szilagyi, senior vice president and head of product at Genesys. “We’re further strengthening Genesys Cloud Agentic Virtual Agent with more context, intelligence and capabilities to act across the enterprise, work with other AI agents and carry increasingly complex customer requests through resolution. This is how businesses can turn customer intent into meaningful outcomes at scale.”

Ecosystem Expands With Adobe, AWS, Meta and Others
Genesys also said today it is deepening collaborations with Adobe, AWS, Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Meta, Salesforce, ServiceNow and Sierra to extend how Genesys Cloud connects to the rest of the enterprise stack. That includes bidirectional data integration with Adobe CX Enterprise, Agent2Agent interoperability with Salesforce Agentforce and ServiceNow, the ability to incorporate Sierra and ElevenLabs agents alongside Genesys’ own virtual agents, and a deepened WhatsApp integration through Meta. Much of that connectivity builds on Genesys’ June 2026 acquisition of Pinkfish, which added more than 500 integrations and access to over 25,000 MCP-compatible tools spanning CRM, ERP, HR and billing systems.
Genesys cited Gartner research predicting that by 2028, 80% of organizations will see AI agents — rather than human developers — consuming the majority of their APIs, up from less than 20% in 2026, according to an August 2026 Gartner report by analyst Manoj Bhatia.
“To realize the full potential of AI, organizations need the freedom to innovate across technologies without sacrificing the continuity of the customer experience,” said Glenn Nethercutt, chief technology officer at Genesys. “With our growing partner ecosystem, Genesys Cloud provides a trusted platform for agentic orchestration, giving organizations the context and control to shape how AI and people work together to deliver customer experiences at global scale.”

The Xperience announcements extend a run of aggressive product and investment moves. Genesys secured a $1.5 billion investment from Salesforce and ServiceNow in August 2025 that deepened ties to the ServiceNow AI Platform, and by the third quarter of fiscal 2026, Cloud ARR had approached $2.4 billion. On the leadership side, longtime chief product officer Olivier Jouve retired June 30, with CTO Nethercutt taking on an expanded EVP role and Mike Szilagyi assuming product leadership.
