Scottsdale City Clerk Ben Lane has transferred a campaign finance complaint against the Alliance for Scottsdale’s Future to the Town of Gilbert City Clerk’s office out of concern of a conflict of interest. Lane would not say what the conflict is; however, he is a witness in an internal investigation that led to the dismissal of Mayor Lisa Borowsky’s former Chief of Staff Lamar Whitmer by City Manager Greg Caton. Whitmer is also the alliance’s CEO.
